How to Create a DIY Hair Mask for Deep Conditioning
Are you tired of dealing with dry and damaged hair? Well look no further than your fruit bowl for a helping hand! That's right, bananas are not only a tasty snack, but they also make a fantastic DIY hair mask to aid with deep conditioning.
Why does this DIY Banana Hair Mask work? Bananas are rich in vitamins and minerals that are essential for healthy hair growth, such as potassium, biotin, and vitamins A and C. Honey is a natural humectant, which means it helps to lock in moisture to keep your hair hydrated. Coconut oil and olive oil are both great sources of healthy fats that help to nourish and strengthen your hair from the inside out.
Here's how to create your very own DIY Banana Hair Mask:
Ingredients:
1 ripe banana
1 tablespoon of honey
1 tablespoon of coconut oil
1 tablespoon of olive oil
* Please remember, it is important to patch test any new products, including DIY hair masks before using them on your entire head.
Now comes the fun part!
Instructions:
Peel and mash one ripe banana in a bowl until it becomes a smooth paste. Top Tip; Banana bits can be hard to get out of your hair, so mash well (or you could even put the mix through a strainer!)
Add one tablespoon of honey to the banana paste and mix well.
Add one tablespoon of coconut oil and one tablespoon of olive oil to the mixture and stir until it is well combined.
Apply the mixture to your hair from root to tip, making sure to thoroughly coat your hair. If you have a brush from a home dye you can use that, or your fingertips works just as well!
Let the mask sit on your hair for at least 30 minutes. You can put a shower cap on to help seal in the goodness.
Rinse your hair thoroughly with cool water, and then shampoo & condition as usual.
Not only is this DIY Banana Hair Mask great for deep conditioning your hair, but it's also a fun and easy project to do at home. So go ahead, grab some bananas, and give your hair the TLC it deserves!
